New capabilities
Patient Power-On
Users who don’t need supervision can now power on Obi with a switch. Just plug in the power cable and press either switch for about 2 seconds—Obi will start up like usual. Perfect for those who don’t need full-time caregiver support!
Reward mode
Activate Reward Mode in Obi by pressing the teach button and holding either switch for 2 seconds. Obi will do a 30-second celebratory motion. This can encourage or reward favorable self-feeding behavior!
Faster Delivery Time
The time from Delivery Command to the the mouth position is up to 3 seconds faster! For many users/patients, this better aligns with their natural eating rhythm.
Extra delivery reach
The allowable horizontal reach in Teach Mode has increased by ~2in/5cm.
In-Bowl backup Collission
In response to an in-bowl obstruction with large/hard food particles, the utensil now back-tracks along its path then awaits a command from the user to attempt a re-scoop.
How it works
With the momentary touch of a customizable switch, Obi allows users to select between four compartments of food and command when the food is captured and delivered to the mouth. Obi is controlled by any part of the body that can activate a switch. The simple and intuitive operation allows the users to be in control!
Customizable Control:
Obi is compatible with switches that utilize a 3.5mm headphone jack adaptor. Some of those switches include the following and many more!
Pressure Switches
Pad Switches
Light Touch Switch
Pillow Switches
Sip and Puff
